My concrete faux bois furniture is very strong and maintenance free! After welding a steel frame, I build up layers of engineered cement enriched with many types of fibers, including fiberglass and volcanic (basalt) fibers. Each one-of-a-kind piece of faux bois furniture I design and create is very strong without being heavy or needing to have bulky, thick branches for strength or stability.
The fine woodgrain detail sculpted into the surface of my faux bois furniture is essential to the realistic look of the work. After many months of research, I found the strongest, most beautiful cement mix in the world, which is perfect for capturing the finest wood details. Coupled with my 20 years of experience as a professional sculptor, this hi-tech cement allows me to realize the tree branches and vines I see in my imagination.
After coloring my furniture with integral colors and permanent, layered acid stains and oxides that mimic the subtle hues of real wood, it is sealed with a high-quality permanent sealer. This invisible matte coating does not need to be reapplied and it protects the furniture from severe weather, abrasions and stains. If Aunt Glenda spills Merlot on it, it’s not a national catastrophe. My faux bois furniture has survived severe Northern winters, floods and hurricanes. It can certainly survive Aunt Glenda, unruly labradoodles, and toddlers.
